    Guys...do you seriously not understand why they have mounted a AK47 on the cannon...
    they use them to fire tracer rounds, to see where the shot will go, this way, they don't waste the artillery ammo, and the reload time of a AK is faster....:eyebrow:

    Wouldn't work as the trajectory of a artillery shell will be vastly different to that of an AK-47 round due to different aerodynamics, powder etc.. Now if the rounds were to be fired at relatively close range and not an arced trajectory as you'd get with an artillery you might have been correct but as it stands, not a chance.

    Not quite sue if you are serious, but:

    The bullet from an AK and the artillery have "slightly" different mass. making the trajectory different.

    Also, it's easier to just measure the distance to the target and calculate the angle. If using tracer rounds you still have to see where it hits, so there is no advantage.

    Only reason I can see is to use the AK as a rear-facing mounted gun to use for cover-fire under transport.
