(Sorry I'm getting here so late - it's been busy and this thread multiplies quickly)

You are correct. The unmanned Progress vehicles are used for ISS resupply. Unfortunately, they aren't terribly useful for removing the sheer amount of waste that is on the ISS right now. The Progress vehicles are relatively small, so they don't hold enough trash to get rid of it all. Plus, since they burn up upon re-entry, there are some things that can't be sent off in one. Some materials need to come back in one piece, and others are not cleared by the EPA to be burned up in the atmosphere. One of the biggest problems is that every vehicle that goes to the ISS ends up bringing with it just as much crap as it brings home.

As a requirement, there is always one Soyuz vehicle permanently docked to the ISS to allow the crew to escape as a last resort. A short while back, when the Russians had command, we had a unique Station EVA. Both Russians were outside, leaving the single US crew member inside. Since he was by himself, he spent the EVA in his spacesuit, seated in the Soyuz craft just in case something went wrong.

The Soyuz isn't immune from problems, though. After a couple of ballistic landings, the Russians are now more keen on getting any imagery they can after a Soyuz docks, just in case something has come loose during ascent.

Way older than that. I remember having a rhyme like that in elementary school that my friends and I thought was super hilarious, which was the same way where each verse ends mid-sentence and the beginning of the next verse initially sounds like a swear word. A few words here and there might be different in the Southpark one, but not many. And yea, it was before "Fingerbang" aired.
