Well, American wouldn't be instantly recognizable [insert stereotypical "fat lazy americans" joke that you all find soooo amusing]. The ethnic make-up of America is such that most of the "white" people in America came over from Europe. It's hard to tell the difference between a British person and an American whose ancestors came from Britain (until they open their mouth, but we're going off of just looks here), but it would be easy to tell the difference between a British person and an American whose ancestors came from Italy.

If I posted a pic of a British bit-techer, and a picture of an Anglo-Saxon American bit-techer, nobody here would be able to tell which is which immediately [insert second stereotypical "fat lazy americans" joke here]. However, given a picture of an Italian bit-techer, and a British bit-techer, most of us would recognize it immediately.

 

I'm Native American. I don't get mistaken for anything. However, I do get recognized for being so awesome that my race had to be destroyed before we took over the world.

Thank raptor jesus I have enough Canadian and British in me to balance out most of the American.

I will admit though that I do enjoy owning guns and crossbows as they are a bit of fun to use at the range.

 

Isn't asking "Why is your boyfriend American?" a bit racist in the first place?

 

...I'm American...why must i feel ashamed for my country, I mean, common, this obesity rate? It disgusts me, how idiotic some people are? It makes my brain hurt. Its just ridiculous how my country has gone down hill since WW2 at least. Now THAT demotivates me.

I'll say it for you then - people who aren't typically exposed to the features that they recognise as different in their neighbours will suffer from racial blindness to an extent. So yeah, I've struggled with some south asians once or twice..
