http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/ugprospectus/facultiesanddepartments/electricalengineering/entryrequirements A* in maths and they look rather keen on further maths. You probably know far more electronics but far less maths than they expect. No way your'll get onto the course till you've done maths A-level at a minimum.
I know I could have done with this sort of advise everyone here is offering you a few years back. I'll just add to what's been already said. As things stand you will probably have to look at other universities including those out of London. Have you considered applying for the BSc and moving onto the BEng? Many of my classmates avoided the foundation year that way. Looking at what isn't so positive. You need to be ready to accept the fact that you may not be able to get into the uni you want to even when you try alternate methods. Do not let that put you down. If you let it get to you it can lead you down some dark places that are hard to recover from, believe me. It will not be the end of the world. Sure things might be a little more difficult later because you didn't attend XYZ but life will go and you will still get to the same place or further in the end.
Thanks for your suggestions guys. I emailed admissions at UCL asking them to reconsider - I told them about my enthusiasm and job etc. They offered an interview for a week tomorrow!
I, and my partner, got into uni on BTECs. Bucks New Uni and Nottingham respectively. Both had more than sufficient UCAS points to pretty much go anywhere. Admittedly I had a year of AS levels as well, but she didn't. Grats on getting into a uni you wanted to go to though, man, best of luck with the course!
W000000000000000000000000000000000000000T!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!! Ok that deserve a celebration! You just get a drink with some good friends!
Well done mate. Just reading this.... thinking that is a shame. Guy is keen. And by the end, an unexpected but well deserved resolution. Pays to be persistent and tenacious eh?
Congratulations mate! I'm just going through uni applications as well at the moment. I had a look around UCL too actually but didn't end up applying as they aren't so great for my course. It's great to hear you got the offer though. I went the A level route so applying has probably been a bit easier for me. You've obviously got the ability and doing the b-tech was due to your own initiative so it'd be a real shame if you didn't get the place.
You better stop getting drunk, playing Battlefied at 10am and saying that Dom doesn't like me all the time then TT.
