I wanted to discover what set-ups the people of Bit-Tech are using so I made this poll. Please note that the '+ 1' at the end implies that a TV is being used as a monitor. Once you have completed the poll, please copy and fill in the following criteria and leave a comment about your set-up: Apart from the number of monitors, don't bother listing specs of televisions (unless it is your sole screen), just the computer monitor(s). Number of Monitors: Screen Resolution(s): Screen Size(s): Number of graphics cards: and general details of your layout. Thanks. ----------------------------------------- My Set-Up Number of Monitors: 1 + 1 Screen Resolution(s): 1440x900 Screen Size(s): 19" Number of graphics cards: 1 I basically use my television for arcade games which do not require a lot of finesse and games which I can use an XBox 360 Wireless Controller with (Fifa, Street Fighter 4, Sonic Generations). For first person shooters, racing or flight simulators or something requiring precise control, I use my 19" monitor at my desk. Obviously such a simple set-up only requires a single graphics card, so my overclocked 7850 is more than sufficient.

Had thought of using a spare crt as a 2nd but last time I did that gaming performance became choppy. Number of Monitors: 1 Screen Resolution(s): 1680x1050 Screen Size(s): 22" Number of graphics cards: 1
Monitors : 3 (Occasionally 4) Resolution : 2880x1800, 2560x1440, 1920x1200 (2048x1536) Pixels: 14,320,128 Screen Sizes : 15", 27", 24", 9.7" Number of GFX : 1 (650m) Left to right: Retina macbook (on homemade wodden stand) + U2713 + U2410 + iPad 3. The iPad only occasionally gets hooked up as an external screen though. I have my spare screen a cheapo 19" 1440x900 sitting idle, if I swap connections around and use HDMI rather than displayport for for the 24" I can go 'true' quad screen. Quad screen laptop Cheesecake! Trouble my desk is only 1.6m wide and that isn't really big enough for a 4+iPad setup. Anyone else running a quad screen setup without resorting to portrait orientation? Edit: I'm trying out the 24" in portrait to see if I can fit in the 19". I don't really like 16:9 screen in portrait, I used to run 20" 4:3s in portrait and that was okay. Not sure about the 24" at all. Edit2: My setup in over 14 million addressable pixels! And to think my first computer had an addressable resolution of 64x48 or 3072 pixels in total. I feel resolution isn't keeping up with other specs seeing as my laptop has 16.7million times as much RAM as my first machine. Edit3: Looking at mhz speed alone (not a good measure to use but there you go) my laptop has 4228 as much CPU power as my first computer.
Number of Monitors: 1 + 1 Screen Resolution(s): 1920x1200; 1920x1080 (TV) Screen Size(s): 28" + 32" Number of graphics cards: 1 AMD 5870 I have the tv off to the left, I use this for watching stuff, and playing xbox and very occasionally playing pc games with xbox controller. My main monitor goes in front of me and does all things computer, and pc games normally. As the tv does not sit in the centre of my speakers, i normally have it running off the sound card on the graphics card so that sound comes from there when I am watching series etc. if I want to watch a movie, i often move my speakers about and use my main sound card. I hate having the sound coming out of my speakers and the screen not being in the middle. Also sometimes I watch series and have the occasional urge to listen to a piece of music, and thus this sound setup works quite well. Ideally I would have the screens next to each other in the centre of the stereo field so I could use the main sound card for all things all the time without moving my speakers around.
Home Number of Monitors: 2 Screen Resolution(s): 1920x1080; 1680x1050 Screen Size(s): 23" & 20" Number of graphics cards: 1 GTX680 Work (Not my choice of monitors btw) Number of Monitors: 2 Screen Resolution(s): 1280x1024; 1024x768 Screen Size(s): 20" & 15" Number of graphics cards: The cheapest thing that will run 2 monitors (HD3450 apparently)
Number of Monitors: 2 +1 tv Screen Resolution(s): 1080p + 1080p Screen Size(s): 2 x 24" 1 x 32" Number of graphics cards:1x 670 2 monitors attached to pc, tv i switch over the cable if i'm watching a film via pc (have enough ports on the new graphics card but don't have the cables yet) Also have a projector but don't tend to use with the pc very often, if i do though again i switch over a cable from one of the monitors.
