I have searched this forum and others and could not find what I am looking for and I am hoping that someone here may be able to help me out.

I am looking for a detached 5.25 drive bay. with 2 bays. I am trying to do a "Desk Mod" of sorts and would like to have a 2unit 5.25 drive bay that I could keep about 5 feet from the pc. I have not done much modding and I am not sure if such a thing exists or if I would have to build one.

    Thanks for the help!

IIRC an IDE cable can't be run in lengths more than 3 feet, otherwise you'll run into issues with attenuation and noise.

For something you're not booting off of, and not doing any huge file transfers, a Firewire drive might work.

The best would probably be SATA. I know SATA cables can get pretty long, and I believe that there's also some sort of external SATA interface that might work well.
