    is there a program like cpu-z but for the whole computer? something that will tell me what my chipset is, what wireless card is installed, all that kind of stuff?

    but if drivers aren't installed yet you get an incomprehensible "identifier string". :( i'll have a look at everest, thanks for that.

    That's^ basically a free version of Everest. I'd believe it's good.

    PC Wizard is very good.

    Although its list of motherboards isn't the best, it knows the manufacturer and chipset etc, but doesn't seem to show model correctly, atleast its not with a couple of the mobos I've had.

    Its very good though.
