Hm, I'm kind of thinking they might **** it up. It sounds odd, but I would have much preferred a DS remake port or something first as a proof of concept.

Deus Ex involved Warren Spector and Harvey Smith - It was one of the best games I've ever played.

Deus Ex: Invisible War involved Harvey Smith but not Warren Spector - It was a poor game and pathetically dumbed-down for the Xbox.

Deus Ex 3 involves neither Warren Spector nor Harvey Smith and is being developed by a subsidiary dev-company of a publishing company (Eidos) - My hopes aren't high for this one.

I predict another insultingly bad sequel. It'll cater for the Xbox masses.

I still dont get all the Deus Ex Hype, I still have the original which I never played through. I got a bout 5 mins into and got bored and never touched it since. Maybe a new Deus game will get me excited.

Wrong way around. Warren Spector worked on 1, not 2. I will not hear a bad word said about him - he is a genius and every game he has worked on has been a fantastic step forward for games. Ultima, System Shock, Thief, Deus Ex 1.

Harvey Smith on the other hand is a bit more hit and miss. He worked on Thief 3, with help from Spector who took a consultant role and was a minor influence on Deus Ex 1. Then when Spector left, Smith took over Deus Ex 2 and created a game which was very hit and miss again. Then he left and went to make Blacksite, which again got very mixed reviews.

They really need to do good on this game. Screw the graphics and the engine, hell make it on the old Deus Ex 1 engine just make it have a good story and engaging gameplay like the first one. The second one was an insult, it was decently enjoyable but horribly watered down.

    Ahh, I stand corrected. :)
I was going on information given by people on the TTLG forums, blame them! :p

I have no bad words to say about Spector, but I'm just making the assumption that Deus Ex was the game which had both Spector and Smith and was the best of the two games released thus far, so DX3 would need to have both to have a hope of coming close. :p
(Flawed though that logic may be)

I'm really sad to say that I agree this seems to be the way things will turn out. Deus Ex 1 was and still is one of the finest examples of PC gaming. I havn't played a game that felt that involved since. DX 3 will almost certainly be another console game (that is, dumbed down) with a crappy story and no real depth to it.

Prove me wrong Eidos, prove me wrong :(

It'll be just like Project Snowblind, which was originally intended to be a multiplayer expansion to Deus Ex until the poject was abandoned and the remains picked up and rebadged.

ya, deus ex was one of the coolest games I ever played, But deus ex 2 really left me lacking, for the technology and the time, deus ex was pretty ground breaking and has alot of features that are used in modern games as well(ie going from imps to plasmids anyone?) etc etc.... Also you take a more active role into hacking into something and being stealthy etc etc, was more realistic in the fact that no, a human being cannot really storm into a platoon of soldiers and two minutes later have kicked all their a**es, on the other hand you can still take your time and do some serious damage(long range dmg wh*re:clap:) but deus ex 2 couldve been a good game....... but felt like a waste of time, If anything, I'd kill to see a new thief game like the original, I still remember starting out and being all happy cuz i kept getting killed, till I learned how to put that arrow in the gap tween his helm and his mail shirt :D
