ZDNet has an article discussing a growing concern for the makers of on-line video games. Cheaters and trolls are making it harder for casual users and newbies to get hooked on the on-line versions of games. Considering that on-line gaming may become the major revenue source for game makers over the few years, maybe they will actually do something about it. .::linkage::.
Personally, I don't play any of the online games. I think it sucks that you 1. have to buy the game then 2 have to pay monthly fees to online servers. Bah, I have enough to spend my money on right now. And to top it off, I'm still on 56k. I prefer going to a lan party where you can actually yell and throw things at you opponents. BTW, I can't wait for my next lan-end of next week we're doing a 4-day stretch.
It's however does affect those who do play online. It's is a bit annoying and at times dissapointing that this even occurs. There are times that i've played online and found out that there's a person cheating or has a app that helps them cheat. That however is the challege of the gamers to out wit the other person. I love playing online but have recently cut myself from online access at my apartment. YUk! Internet diet. LOL!!! Oh! Well atleast I still have access at work. Whew!
I think the biggest example of cheating has gotta be CS. Althought we don't pay for it directly, it's still damaging to even the veteran players. A lot of my friends have given up with CS recently, unable to tolertate the abuse of the game by cheaters. Has anyone ever plaed Delta Force 2 online? That has to be the most exploited game in the entire world.
