    Hey everyone!

My friend just bought a complete new computer costing alot of money and i built him it, i will display what he got so u might be able to say if its hardware issues or not, list as follows

CPU: AMD Athlon XP 3000+ (333FSB)
    Motherboard: DFI LANParty nForce2
    RAM: Corsair PC2700 Ultra DDR
Graphics: ASUS nVidia Geforce FX 5600 Video Suite 128 mb
    Sound: SoundBlaster Live

    And other non important stuff...

    .::::pROBLEM::::. :wallbash:

All is in and running i have installed windows and everything is good accept the fact that is says AMD Athlon @ 960 Mhz or something close to that speed on a 3000+ now the clock ratio seems to be running at 100 mhz mulitiplied by 9.? something... I changed the jumper on the board so it went over 2 pins (there is only 2 pins for the jumper than the normal 3 on most boards) and it was set as the manual says "all other CPU's" not as in the 1 pin is "OFF: 100mhz"

Ok Ok i know this seems confusing but on my AOpen board the clock ratio is so EASY! to fix but this lan party is confusing there is something also called Genie BIO's do i change the Clock ratio in there so its 333 FSB

    Please help

    Firstly, welcome to the forums.

OK, i dont have that board and as such i do not know the jumpers you are talking about. However i would have thought it would have been set up to correctly use 3000xp. You should go into the bios though seeing as it does not automatically set the correct FSB and multiplyers.

You should find a menu that will enable your overclocking options, ie FSB, multiplyers and voltages. Find the FSB section and set it to 166 (being half 333) and adust the multiplyer to 13. This will set the CPU to run at the stock speed. You can see some more info about voltages and stepping codes here.

I have the exact same board and just read the other day on DFI's site that there is a bios update needed for it to recognize the XP 3000+

Out of curiosity, are you going to use an SATA drive? Reason I ask is that I'm having a hell of a time trying to get my Seagate drive to work on this board. Did your mobo come with SATA drivers? If it did, could I get them somehow? My mobo didn't have any SATA drivers in it and I can't find them at DFI's or Marvell's web site...

    Hey dad LOL

    Hey

I have sorted the board i didnt the BIOS update using WinFLASH then entered the genie BIOS and changed the Front side bus to 166 doubled to 333 and it just came up with 3000+ and it works fine.... thanks to all help

also the machien was actually my friends i am using an Aopen board top brand new one and it auto detects the processor thats why the BIO's on the lan party confused me but its fine now

The computer might of come with SATA drivers il give my friend a ring and if it did il put them on my web site and post the on here! hehe
