I think its great that they didnt just push a product out the door just to make money off of it. Too often that happens and then a special edition comes out a while later leaving everyone who bought the orriginal screwed.

Are there any guesses as to how much this will cost? The current good looking conroe mobos are a rip off and I like DFI better anyway. Hopefully these will be good and relatively affordable.

It'll be using the C19 northbridge (nForce4 SLI Intel Edition) that doesn't clock well at all. This was hidden by the fact Pentium 4's clock was so high to start with. However, now that we're seeing Core 2's clocking to silly speeds (450+ fsb - I've got an E6400 up to 3.85GHz on air thus far, for example), the C19 northbridge isn't up to the job. nForce 570 SLI Intel Edition could be released, because it is not an overclocker's chipset, meaning that C19 was fine for those purposes.

damnit, i was anticipating the ASUS nf 590, but all I hear is the c19 sucks. unfortunately, I am ready for my conroe now and may not be able to wait. Ach... but I really don't want an intel chipset and I want full dual x16 pcie.
... maybe i can wait a couple months... i waited this long...

Shame they canned it... Though if it was for performance/overclocking reasons then this bodes rather well for the updated board :jawdrop:

I'm sure it is once you start pumping more voltage through it and increasing clock speeds and multipliers...

Dammit, I'm going to have to settle for a lower end model. Will wait a week or so and see if any more 570s come out with proper nforce 5 chips
