The Inq staff are all drooling onto their keyboards in anticipation:

THE FLOODGATES ARE OPENING. DFI has just announced a new motherboard, the boring sounding 855GME-MGF 'green motherboard'. It is not one of the spiffy LAN Party glow in the dark, brightly colored wonders, but a simple average looking mobo. In fact, the specs, AGP 4x, single channel DDR333, and no special features sounds quite dull.
The thing that made me sit up in my chair was the fact that it is a desktop Pentium M motherboard. Grin. Grin again. Me want. This socket 479 board is just the thing that enthusiasts have been drooling over for years. Ask, and ye shan't receive. Bitch, and still nothing. Pentium 4 runs out of steam, and hey, look what we can suddenly let the mobo makers do. Low power, quiet, and all the other inherent goodness PMs bring.

This is DFI, and they do overclocking really really well, and the 855GME-MGF is no exception. Adjustable FSB from 100-250MHz, clock multipliers, FSB:Memory multipliers, asynch PCI and AGP, and just about anything else you want to tweak is here. In fact, they have a chart in the press release showing a PM overclocked to 2.8GHz destroying an A64 and a P4EE in Doom3. Granted, it is in 640*480, but still, there is potential here, big potential.

The board ships to distributors on the 8th, so it should be available in 2-3 weeks. All I can say is an enthusiast aimed Pentium M board. About #&$*^#% time! Go DFI.

    Don't forget the L'inquage...

So now you have another choice. P4, PM or AMD. Decisions, Decisions, eh? ;)

From quiet media computers to pretty decent gaming boxes, this could be the answer :) .

Here here. Took long enough for one company to pull it out their ass. The only problem now is sourcing Pentium-Ms (ebuyer?).

Ive *gotta* get my hands on one to see how powerful they are.

I seen Pentium M on newegg and now there will be finally a way to use them in a desktop. I hear claims that they are clock for clock faster than the A64 but who goes by clockspeed anymore.

    and even more exciting
DFI have a P-M board based on the 915 chipset in the loop /drool

all the advantages of P-M without the disadvantages of 855

Already thoroughly enjoying AMD mobile chips in full power desktop boards with nforce2 chipsets overclocked a ridiculous amount with stock cooling.. essentially saving 100-200 dollars on a processor (canuck bucks) I am already quite happy.

Congrats to DFI- now the intel fanboys can have a hopefully equally as good play-toy :)

Epia center did a short ditty on this board awhile back. There is an link from thier site to the original review but its in french. This board is my dream board. This board is so sweet plus It overclocks like crazy.

The dorthon cpu will eat desktop cpus twice its speed for breakfast even amd 64. Check the benches in the review its mind boggling. Dorthon has a huge cache and a very short pipeline. There is something dead sexy about a cpu optimized so much and runs that cool. You start to oc it and its just crazy. I want this board so bad but currently only store Ive seen carry it is in germany.

it also carrys the same exact dimensions of epia motherboards. 170mmx170mm

link btw if people wanna see a pic of it or translate the original review with benches against p4 desktop and amd 64. http://www.epiacenter.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=374
