After clearing the YouTube cache yesterday it's now behaving itself and not using any background data, a big improvement. Not yet sure if that's the whole of the matter, I'll know later on today if it's still getting hot / tanking the battery.

I installed a pretty decent application for power monitoring generally, my phone doesn't show a battery health and I was wondering how its doing as its a silicon carbide battery and I charge it regularly at 65w in something a few mm thick

This app will work that out after a few charges and does a pretty good breakdown of app power use that you might find useful, it does of course consume a fair amount of battery itself though. :D

Aye I found that app not too long ago, kind of hard to interpret as it would have me believe the apps I use are consuming very little battery. It does tell me that it's around 78% health, which ain't great.

I got a faster charger to offset needing it twice a day and the unit now gets warm during charging, so I'm now more of the suspicion that the battery is goosed.

I dropped my Galaxy A54 the other week and got it repaired through the phone insurance with my bank.
Apart from the delay ordering the screen, it was done well.
It's the one on Old Christchurch Road, Phone Geeks. Looksike they're owned by the phone insurance company.
Better repair than my daughter's iPhone at an independent in Highcliffe, it's not been fully right since.

Update, the phone is no longer getting hot during use, and I'm not sure why. Battery life still wasn't great but it was acceptable for a unit this old. I've always used the "only charge to 90%" feature to keep the battery from sitting at full charge overnight so I was accustomed to picking it up in the morning and seeing the battery partially drained. It seems that the USB-C lead beside the bed is so poor that it wasn't even charging to 90%, more like 65% if you're lucky but I didn't twig as it was never normally full. I've replaced the lead and now with an actual 90% charge it's got the legs to last all day.

Still not sure what the getting hot was all about but once more I'd like to thank everyone who made suggestions, it seems that one of them stopped it burning up while I did basic tasks?
