I was raised with the opinion that if you don't vote... you can't complain and boy do I love to complain so yes, I voted.
Yarr, I did done vote. Although asking around while I was there, apparently our region didn't have a very good turnout. :/
I didn't vote in the local elections, but will do in the national elections. Luckily I don't think I'll have to wait very long.
I would've gone out and voted if I was old enough 17 ftl. Hopefully when the general election comes round I'll be old enough. Anyone been watching the cabinet reshuffle going on? looks like labours realised that they're a teeeeeny bit unpopular and decided to get rid of some unpopular faces or at least change their department. The number of resignations that have happened is really quite shocking I'd expected labour to pull together and present a united front instead of all this infighting but I guess this is what's always happened when the government appears weak, the party turns against it and the petty infighting begins. It looks like we're gonna have a few weeks or months of weak government. Well this is a good think really it reduces Labours chances of winning the next election and I don't think many people want that to happen after what's been going on recently. On the bright side Jacqui Smith and Hazel Blears are out it's just a shame Darlings not going with them.
You do know that the roman party is infact run by a french person? I was going to vote for them till i found out
Posted mine too. Voted to affirm my right to choice, but no one represents my interests. My choice is protest, I don't do lesser of two evils - I just tell them all to **** off
Just done the Vote Match thing and apparently I should have voted for Green. I hadn't really considered them, as most green-campaigners are anti-nuclear, something that I am very seriously in favour of. I hadn't really considered Libertas, my "second choice" either, but did vote for my third! UKIP Cheesecake! Anyone know when the results are out? The locals seem to be a complete Conservative whitewash!
So if you don't want to be part of the EU, you are therefore racist? I'm not that fond of the EU due to the fact that we lose £60 Billion a year, and also because our immigration has come out of hand where anyone, even those who have nothing to contribute but take our money can come in. We need better policies on immigration, which we are unlikely to get with the EU.
Grr... now we have proof Yorkshire isn't god's county. Its just a hole stupid enough to vote in a member of the BNP for its MEP.
I can't get over how many people have voted BNP and UKIP in the results. It just shows how badly labour have disgruntled the voters. Shame really.
In hindsight, I should have voted someone considering UKIP actually got somewhere, not that my constituency is anything other than Conservative though. Sooner I get out of this country, the better.
This is why it's important to all exercise out democratic right to vote. A lot of people I know either couldn't be arsed or didn't care who was voted in. This, I guess, will be in contrast to people who have a reason to vote and will do so with great fervour. My recollection may be a bit fuzzy, but voter apathy in France back in 2002 nearly opened the door to nationalist Jean-Marie Le Pen. It doesn't take that long to look up party policies, there are even websites that break them down into bite sized chunks, but I really feel we should make the effort to vote as a people. Before apathy one day sees the country run by an angry dwarf who insists we all take a European holiday in our little tankies. :/
Sadly it's true - all the parties that did well had one policy: Conservatives - We're not labour UKIP - We hate the EU Lib Dems- We're not Labour or the Tories (didn't do great as this was a little complex...) BNP - We hate the EU (and anyone else from anywhere else, in fact, we're so f***ing ignorant that we think we're the only ones who are British, despite the fact that we all descend from immigrants)
