ok well i have a digital camera and when i try to upload images on windows 98 se, using Ulead Photo Express, whenever i go to aquire and pick the device it says its being used and i cant download from it. I have no idea whats wrong with it, it has done it since i bought it and ive reformatted a couple times and it hasnt helped. anyone know any good programs to upload images that are free or close to?? thanks in advance :Fargo:
why do you need a program to do it? surely you can install the drivers and get access to the camera direct from My Computer, certainly the way ive done it with my sony and win98se. other than that im afraid i havent a clue
I'll second what Phat Ass said. I never use the software that came with my Fuji, just drag and drop in My Computer. Seems a lot easier to me. My parents recently got a digicam, and they use the supplied software, now that I got it working for them. My dad didn't read the instructions (but then he is 68, and got his first PC only 7 months ago) and connected the camera before installing the software. I had to format and reload to get it to work. Cheers
Sounds like a TWAIN driver problem to me... are their any updated drivers on the manufacturers website?
i will check the website (forgot about that..) il see this going through my computer, never heard about doing this i will try it thanks for the help :EDIT: How do i upload from my camera through my computer?
you dont upload as such, the camera is detected as if it were another drive and you access it like that, so your just copying between devices
Not always... this is the modern (better) method of doing it, other cameras you have to 'connect' to using a system called TWAIN (http://www.twain.org/) which connects to the camera and takes the images.
Has any imaging device made in the last 4 years or so used Twain? I had a scanner about 5 years ago that used Twain, it also connected via a proprietary SCSI card. I think my first digicam, which used serial comms, just worked with Win Explorer. I do remember that I had to select a device ("aquire") to use the scanner, so maybe Fargo_182s camera is a Twain device? Cheers
Does the camera have some sort of media storage device like a memory stick or such? If so I would just get a reader, which would work like the direct connection iwth the modern cams w/ my computer drag and drop stuff..
