Lol I thought just the same but didn't mention Just check like 20 threads and it's clear that atleast 90% of modders mod their cases barefeet, and have atleast one cat which likes to check how's project going
That is just my crappy test fitting fan. It was just there to make sure things fit. Rest assured the final clear one will blow out.
Sorry, no cat, will a hyperactive dog do? It's not cracked, just slipped while tightening up that screw. No big deal as it's only a temporary housing until (if) I ever get this case finished.
Good plan, but I swear that this is the last time I'm taking this power supply apart. It is hard to get a good photo of a shiny surface, but this will do.
Front clear coated The front panel is now clear coated, still have to buff it etc, but looks good in real life even now. Again, hard to get a good shot of a shiny surface. Next, the box is off to the powdercoaters. I can get it coated for cheaper than I could buy enough paint and clear coat.
Powdercoating rules The case is back from the powder coaters. For NZD$30 this is the result (excuse fingerprints, dust, and crappy photo). I only got the outside done as the extra thickness added by powder coating would mean drives etc won't fit. I'll paint the inside later. The whole case: Closeup of the top: Can't beat that finish.
Right, another small update. Added some black rubber trim to the top blowhole. This hides the not so perfect circle I cut. Sorry for the photo, but there was no way I could get my cheap camera to focus on the rubber, it kept focussing through the hole. Vinyl dyed the front power panel and switch. Modded the switch to be a momentary push button, rather that the click on and off switch that this used to be for AT power. Sorry, no pictures of that. Also vinyl dyed a floppy drive. Added the perspex for the side window. I used smoked black perspex so that when the interior lighting is off, it will be almost opaque. It still has some protective paper on the front, and all of it on the back. I'll remove it from the back as late as possible. Lastly, reassembled the front and reattached the lockable door and side panel locking mechanism. This being an ex server box, means that it can be locked shut. OK, back to talking to myself.
