Windows DiRT 3

Anyone else really looking forward to DiRT 3? I know the Bit-Tech review wasn't massively full of praise for not being a huge step forward from dirt 2, but I enjoyed dirt 2 and more rallying, dynamic weather and more multiplayer options are exactly what I want.

As dirt 3 is coming out on Tuesday I thought I'd start a thread for it. To help with technical issues and setup as well as to discuss other aspects of the game.

There are a lot more multiplayer options so if anyone wants to swap user names (Codemasters insist on using the wonderful Games for Windows Live) then I'll keep a list of user names updated in this post.

I'm not too worried about Bit-tech's review.

I worked out long ago that the games Bit-tech likes and the games I like are very rarely the same.

Some of us already have it and the Bit-Tech review is pretty much spot on. PC version here.

 

i only installed it yesterday but i'm yet to play it, witcher (and then witcher 2 of course) is keeping me busy atm

and little offtopic, is anyone else trying to justify buying a G27 when they don't play racing games that often ?

Q: What if I only want to do Rallying and Rallycross and really don't want those shitty menu systems? Can I just do that?

 

I must say my Thrustmaster F430 wheel works great with it and also good that you can navigate the menus without the need of mouse/keyboard, everything can be done via the wheel.

No need for complicated setups the wheel was recognised and became the default controller automatically.

 

I might get this for the 360 [GFWL just will not work work for me]... really enjoyed the original... didn't play #2 though... is there much of a difference between #1 and #2/3?

Will be playing with logitech rumblepad 2 gamepad, cant be doing with steering wheels.

 

I hate using steering wheels with Codemasters games. They just don't provide a satisfying experience, it doesnt feel like your connected to the car, unlike Simbin titles which give good feedback. I own a G27 and although I like it a lot I really don't think its worth the huge price tag. A cheap force feedback wheel is good enough for arcade racers as you'll not really need the clutch and H shifter of a g25/27.

Mines unlocked now on Steam - its my last uni exam tomorrow morning so it can wait until then!

 

I just retried it and now its saying that its not available.

 

Mine unlocked last night had a quick blast and it's cool graphics look nearly the same lol but thats fine maxed out with my 5850 45 to 55 fps anyone having trouble with the free car pack on there can't seam to download it

 

I got it working in the end too and its a great game. I love the snow!

I also tried to get the car park working but live tells me that there is a download but when I go to downloads, I am told there aren't any.

No matter. The game is great!

 

Just played a few races, but have an exam tomorrow so should try and focus on that. Game seems really great at the moment, the graphics look much better.
