Sounds nice I hope you spray the wheels white Whatever for the frame and body. White frame, red body, or purple/red, purple/blue, green/blue, white/blue, etc Now that thing has probably got a six speed box, right? And assume there's a little shifter rigged up? With those diameter wheels, this thing will probably just fly to over 100km/h, in no time There don't seem to be any front brakes btw, so instead of stopping quickly I think it might just want to fishtail
Yeh 6 speed and has a linkage up from the engine to side the drive with a sifter that to push ford or back to change up or down gears. Yep you got it no front brakes. Brakes are overrated lol. But you can install brakes on the front if need be. Rear tyres are Bearclaw 25x12.5x8 4 ply Front tyres are Duro Size not to sure lol.
Buggy looks like this at moment. Got a bit more done on buggy today. Got 1 of the front swing arms cleaned up and edges smoothed off. Throw a coat of rustkill primer on it. Cleaned up and smoothed edges on one of the rear swing arms. Just got to weld 1 spot on it and then throw a coat of rushkill primer on it. Got both of the Steel bushes made for both steering racks.
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! I'm thinking the front brakes are going to be needed. Where are you running this thing in NZ?
I bet this thing would be damn twitchy at speed without the steering rack Rear brakes are alot more fun than front brakes, but i wouldn't want to go too fast without them... imagine how long it would take to stop from say 100kmh So what does this thing weigh in full trim without driver? I bet it's 200-250kg And is it meant to be powered from a motor that big? I wonder if it can do monos
Yeh mite upgrade to front brakes later on. Yeh made for 500cc up to 1000cc and bigger if you do the upgraded rear with the CV joints. People put hyabusa engines in them. Now that would make you ass tighten. Not to sur what weight is but there site says 375kg. I would say you could make it lighter if you wanted to. Here is sum more info about it http://www.edge.au.com/buggies_piranha.htm There is a model up from this 1 here. Bigger and more costly. http://www.edge.au.com/Barracuda.htm
Got my seat cover last week. Right. got more done on rack. Both racks cut and welded. Closeup of the join. New boots. Will have sum more photos on weekend as im building them back up tomorrow.
Heavier than what I thought... those wheels and shockers and suspension arms must be heavy It is built very tough for big jumps I guess. Front brakes would probably take you to around 400kg? All that weight would make mono's hard....but i bet with the rear tyre pressure down low, and some ballast hanging out off the back, say a couple of big iron weight discs bolted to the chassis, she'd mono like crazy Would make for a very cool video
Got sum more done on buggy. Got the front hubs cleaned up and 2 coats of metal hammer paint on them. Made brackets up for steering arms.
Spent the day working on buggy today. Removed all elctrics and removed the old dash. Will be doing a new dash out off alloy that will be a offcut from the floor. Stripped the rearend and man what a job that was. The PTO's had stuck on looked like the person hammered them on so had to take apart 1 of the universal joints and undo all bolts and tap the center shaft out. 1 PTO end is still on the center shaft so will get that off sum time. Got the left side off and cleaned up some welds on the frame. Looks like this at moment. Packed all away again till tomorrow. Going to clean up to rearend tomorrow and make sum brackets.
Do you have some old rear tyres for this thing? Preferably smooth/road tyres? Head over to a quiet bit of road, pour some oil down, and over the rear tyres aswell, and burnout video!!!!!1111
LOL. nop Thats a big no no. LOL Im not a boy racer. hehe. Got a wing to go on the buggy today. Twin GT alloy wing. mmm bit of boy racer style. This is what im planning on doing.
Got my steel for the front of frame for the upgraded front. Going to be making the plates up tomorrow. Steel from 25mm wide to 125mm wide mostly 5mm thick stuff also sum square. Also cleaned down the 2 rear swing arms and gave them a coat of matel hammer gray paint. Also the bar for over the engine.
Got some of the plates made for the front end. My stepped drill bits got a bit of a workout today. 16mm to 20mm i used. They go from 3mm up to 24mm. Closeup Just call me "Hacksaw Mark" Going to do sum more plates tomorrow.
This is great, I can't believe I've only just found this thread. +sub I was trying to persuade my dad to let us get a Lotus-7-type kit car at one point, but no luck (too expensive, and tbh we don't know **** about cars but thought it would be fun). Looks like it will be a great buggy
I want one of those. If it can do +100 kp/h it should be no trouble outrunning the police here in Denmark since it would be illegal as hell Though if I had to make a buggy I would make it lower and more "racy".
