Ive been using OS 9.2 on my school's Apples for years. However, I was given an opportunity to try OS X on my workstation for Axel... all I can say is my God, Panther rules  I have never used such a smooth and operable OS before; its comfortable and easy to use. This clinches it; Im getting a mac-mini ASAP :D For the rest of you Mac users, what was your discovery of OSX like? All I can say is that I absolutely love it :D

My discovery of OS X, if you can call it a discovery, was plain sailing really. I prefer the majority of the ways it does stuff and there is very little that I miss since switching from windows.

OS X makes my job easier being as it's unix/bsd based, but that was only two thirds of why I decided I wanted to buy a Mac. I could run a linux distro* but even the 'friendly' ones still have a degree of hassle associated with them, where as OS X is a 99.9% working, hassle free, desktop ready OS.

    * I ran Slackware as my primary OS for the best part of half a year before anyone tries to tell me I haven't tried linux for long enough.

My first discovery of OSX was back in the 10.0 days when OSX sucked and there were almost no native apps so I was in Classic mode almost all the time... was really kinda pointless except for the pretty :p

Well I used OS 9 at highschool and wasn't that much impressed.
But this year (second year of college) we had a class on the iMac G4... a boring class... So I did alot of other stuff on it. And I must admit I was sold.

I can't really explain it that well.
It just feels so .. "nice" to work on it. Typing a simple email becomes a Joy. The standard fonts are just really nice to read and give you an immediate feeling of layout..

I know this must sound ridiculous but.. Its just the way it feels to me.

And offcourse the little gadgets are fun (exposé). And it is pretty powerfull, and comes with powerfull applications.

Its just nicer to work with an apple.

    I compare it like this..

Apple is like a BMW. It's a car like any other, gets you from A-B, no more. But the drive is just soo much nicer on a Mac! It follows you true every lead, and the power never seems to end!

Truly the Fifth Gear (G5) seems absolete.
(that last was just a joke..)
