Is there a good way to do it?

All I can think of is breaking/defacing and chucking in the bin.

Are there proper channels for disposal or is that it?

In Leeds recently, it's been putting them down the drains ... but that's been nicked plates so not much use to you (hopefully).

    Ha, yeah, slightly less use.

I replaced the vanity plates with EU logo versions, and now have the plain originals. Plus planning to ditch the vanity plate when it's off SORN, so would likely need to dispose of two sets.

It’s plastic right? Sure, chop them a couple times, but put them in your kerbside plastic recycling. Or take them while to your local householder waste and chuck em in the hard plastics skip and save the chopping.

Yup, not sure on the recyclability, but definitely plastic.

I'll probably go that route for laziness. Although I do have to go to the tip anyway.. hm.

If you chuck em in kerbside, they might not take it. If you take it to the tip woopsie too late now.

Am I missing something, surely putting them in the bin would be the obvious option?

Same way as disposing of a bank card

Well, yes, but given that somethings are better disposed of in other ways - I thought I'd double check if there was anything 'official' before I start getting tickets for some ****** with my old plates.

They've been hacked up and chucked in the general refuse at the local tip, since I was going anyway.

Yeah, I was thinking so long as they are broken up they can’t be reused.
