Yeah, it's pretty horrendous. It hurts my eyes just looking at it - I can actually see the pixels from halfway across the room. I would expect that in 1999, but 2009? Really?
Well, I kind of figured bandwidth costs would be figured into the advertising price. Besides, I didn't think a few hundred extra KB's would make much of a difference considering all the other high-res content hosted on the site, although I guess if it's on the front page it might.
Nope, not AFAIK - we have guidelines as to the maximum size of adverts, but they really only kick in for MPUs. No-one seems to know why, but the art assets EA supplied us with just are that low res. Crazy, really.
