Hey guys. So I bought all my new computer parts yesterday, and here is the cpu and ram that I bought

    Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 Kentsfield 3.0GHz
    FSB 1333MHz

    CORSAIR Dominator 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit
    Speed DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
    Timing 5-5-5-15

I was wondering because the FSB of the cpu is more then the ram will I have to run it at a divider out of the box? Like a 5:4 or something. Maybe I should have bought different ram? :X

Actually, memory is double-data-rate, and FSB is quad-data-rate and 333Mhz * 2 = 667Mhz ram, not 1333Mhz, so you should have no issue.

oh I see now. So you think it would have been better to get a tighter timing ram instead?

In all honesty, I wouldn't get that CPU. If you get a Q6600 and do a bit of overclocking you get the same performance, but just saved $1200 which could go to so much other stuff now, or for an upgrade on a part in the future, or just savings. I would get some decent quality DDR2-800 and that should give you some nice latencies at either stock or overclocked speeds on any Core2Quad CPU. My recommendations are Crucial Ballistix, A-Data Vitesta Extreme, G-Skill PC2-6400 HZ, Buffalo Firestix or Mushkin PC2-6400 SP2/HP2/XP2.

I bought it all already a few days ago :X. Guess I will just have to push this system as much as I can to see what i can get out of it.

The dominator is really nice ram, and the CPUs unlocked multiplier should be good for overclocking too, so you should be able to get some nice results.
