Okay.. I own, yes OWN all the Deep Space 9 dvds and I want to convert each episode to a small Divx or whatever to store & view locally on my pc. Thing is I want simple, effective and to the point. I'm able to use Nero to get them into mp4, but that is VERY time consuming. Is there any software (retail is fine) that can make this simple? I don't want to baby sit a few hundred episodes... EDIT:: Actually, I have Nero Ultra which includes Recode 2 and works like a charm. Is there a way to do batch processing with this? I'll just start it on Friday and let it go all weekend if needed...
doom9 is your friend, they have divx guides on there. People usually stuff like gordon knott pack, but i prefer something more "setup and let it get on with it" so i use DVD2SVCD which is far easier but the files are twice the size being mpeg2. infact, just checking doom9 and they have GKnott guides for xvid backup id just follow one of them, GKnott is free too.
I would use DVD Shrink to pull the video off the DVD then use FlaskMPEG to convert the video to DivX (personally I'd use Xvid). You'll also want to convert the audio to MP3 so you'll also need the Radium MP3 Codec or something of the like. I'm pretty sure Flask will do batch processing but I've never tried it before.
