the problemis that the dvix will probably be too long so what you have to do is make it so it is the correct size (i think its about 1hr max on a vcd) then try burning it, there is a site that basically gives you step by step will try & find it later

    "Let the pirating commence"

    j/k

That guide it pretty much the best on the planet along with the website (ignore the 'VCD' in its title, it covers all video formats).

I've used the guide many times any the only downfall is my crappy computer :sigh:.
The encoding takes around 4 hours for an average movie (but I'm using a P3-550, and encoding is ALL processor).

Follow the guide precisly and you'll get there in the end.

Warning though: Where it says you *might*need the Nimo codec pack, ignore it. There is no *might* about it. You definatly will need it and it cost me several costers before i worked that out.

    Hope that helps.

I've done this many times using a combo of tmpeng and nero. Encoding does take a long time on anything less than a gig cpu. The size of the movie is largely irrelivant. What happens is you convert avi's into near uncompressed mpgs and when you put these on the CD using nero, only the length of the clip matters.

If for some reason you don't get on with the guide, use the newest version of nero. It's got built in encoders so you just tell it to make a VCD, drag your avi's into the tracks and it converts them for you. Be warned that I think nero encodes slower tho.
