8 of each is enough really, but have a voltage output level set to vary with temperature.

    eg 20 oC + = 5V
    30 oC + = 7V
    etc

Do you plan on sending info back to the PC? or Just displaying on a built in display? (ala retail digi dock)

Fan speed monitoring as well as temp?

Very intersted in this - I've been wanting to gather extra temps / fan speeds and display them on my LCD for a while now, but have been stumped as to how to do it

if you just want temp the easiest way to make a multi sensor thermometer is to buy a temp module from maplins, and get a rotary switch with however many contacts you want and to wire thermistors to it so that u can choose which thermister you want the temperature displayed. not the most elegant solution but if basic temp monitoring is all you want then that way is as good as ne imho

i was gonna use a couple of pics for the project (think it stands for programmable ic) and interface it thru the serial port to the pc with some buttins on the front to select wich u want to display on an lcd

Why bother with the buttons? If the data is sent back to the PC via the serial port, you could dump the info into Motherboard Monitor's shared memory. Then you could select and display whatever you want through MBM's dashboard and an LCD using something like LCDC or LCD Smartie.

This looks of particular use, as it shows you how to physically connect to the SMBus:

    Have fun... :)
