Would anyone be interested in a DIY fan controller? I can design the circuit, design the layout and get PCBs made with kits if there is enough interest? Only one design can be done though so may not suit everyone but at least you get to put your say it before you buy.

Power, number of channels, mounting techniques way of controlling (other than USB) etc. can all the chosen by you lot!

    What do ya think?

    what a life saver...

I nearly give up in creating DIY fan controller.. this is all i can do < link to my worklog. Or should i post the images in here?
All I know there are two different fan controller based on the fan. PWM controller and Voltage controller. Am I right? CMIIW
Several cheap fan controller (china made, several deepcool, thermaltake, aerocool low price fan controller) are only for 3 & 2 pin fans in other word voltage controller.

So, my question is, can you design a fan controller for 3 pin or 2 pin fan that strong enough to control 12watt to 20 watt of fan / fans (around 3 fans in 0.3A to 0.6Ampere)?
One channel is enough, so I can duplicate is to several more channel, 12V power and knob potensiometer style controlling.

That's no problem, instead of using the PWM to be used as a control signal we can directly drive the fans with the PWM. This is done by adding a transistor to effectively give us current gain and then smooth the modulation out with an LC filter. Although there are better ways of doing it you could in theory use this technique for hundreds of watts and upwards!

I searched few words and i cant find it on my brain :wallbash:

I follow this thread http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=219273 but thats for PWM fans.

Can you start with some basic? :D
kindly share a simple design non pwm for some ppl who dont really understand in electronics (like me).
