Inspired by your work I've been out shopping for components :)
I'll be reporting back once I get everything soldered up.

    Cheers!

Cool, look forward to seeing your shots, hope you make a better delay circuit than me, I seem to have to change 1 resister each time I use it, due to a fluctuating voltage on my output. think I might do some more liquid shots soon, they are just a pain to clean up afterwards :)

    New ones.
I was doing some reading on the triggers and found another use for them, if you place the microphone underneath and touching a base of some description, I used a baking tray, you can use the sound trigger to capture drop shots, so tried it with some cherries

And probably my final glass shot for a while, keep getting evil looks from the better half, don't see why she’s complaining I bought nicer glasses to replace the ones I sma..... erm dropped.:D

    final smash

    looks amazing!

too bad the high res aint as crisp as the scaled down versions... would be perfect then.

first cherry drop is very well executed. Viewing the hi-res only makes it better :)

Can you not make a variable-timed trigger with a pot? I suppose you could even rig up a 555-timer on there as well to trigger multiple instances after you break it.

I've supposedly got one using a 556 timer, which allows both an instant trigger, a variable delay trigger and a variation in delay between triggers. But the SCR's I got just don't trigger on the output of the timer, and I have never ever used them before and don't really know how to compensate for them, which is why I switched to an opto-coupler. I only had one so could either have the instant output or the delayed output and as you can vary the delay by moving the microphones distance to the sound I put it on the instant trigger. I'll go back to it at some point and get the delay working properly.

With the glass shots I had to use the delay circuit to stop multiple exposures, think it would work if it was triggering the shutter on the camera, but I've got this one triggering the flashes and leaving the shutter on the camera open. I think I'd have to wire in the infra-red remote to trigger the shutter, as the D50 doesn't have any other external shutter mechanism. the multiples looked a bit off and messy

Actually I quite like that. See what you mean about the circuit though - I thought it was a camera trigger rather than a flash trigger.

How quick is the recharge time for your flashes then? I assume it's pretty rapid.

these are on the lowest power setting of the flashes (so you get the shortest flash time) at 1/16th full, and on fresh batteries I can hammer the test button continuously as fast as i can with no delay.

    Sound trigger project...

    Hello.
I’d like to find someone to build one of these sound triggers and I’m happy to pay for their time.
It would have a different use to the norm. If you are interested in a small project please contact me at jonnyb@yahoo.com. If not would you be able to recomend anyone.
    Thank you.. Jon

I soooo very nearly bought one of those when it was in its funding stage, but I forgot about it and missed the deadline. Have a feeling that I might still buy one of the finished products next year once they catch up with the demand. My homemade one was ok, but I could never get the time delay to work properly kept havign to change resistors in order to get the flash to fire.

Thought I would register to add a reply here.

I finished building a photogate with delay timer from hiviz diagrams, parts bought from Maplin.

I had no output at all from the SCR's.
On looking closer at the SCR from Maplin I found out the reason why.

On hiviz the pins are K G A, the ones I bought from Maplin (UM74 - CP106D) are G A K so you will have to change the wiring accordingly.

I hope this will help someone with the same problem thinking they have built it wrong.
