my new camera kicks ass for its price but the exposure time without flash is a bit long- real hard to get clean shots. the nearest camera shop is about 30km from here and im not planning to go there turning a week or so but as i had some spare time, i made a temporarily tripod.

who has seen my casemod topic knows i dont like spending money, so this will be also a scavenge mod. :D

first, a broken race car lamp by osram

    nice and bendy :naughty:

removed lamp with a screwdriver and the other end had to be cut off with a saw
    [IMG]

gut it in 3 with an angle grinder, 3 x 16cm
    [IMG]

screwed in some screws, and gut off the excess parts
    [IMG]

a piece of metal sheet from a volvo and a random bolt
    [IMG]

    drilled some holes
    [IMG]

and dad weld it all together... im a bit crappy with that tool

added a shim and and some rubber thingie as the base
    [IMG]

and used some electric tape to seal the edge.... a bit ghetto but it doesnt look that bad, the final result is this(well, actually i still need to find some rubber legs in the daylight tomorrow):

works quite nice but as it doesnt bend as well as a real one(and is a bit bigger).... i will probably still buy one.

but until then, i think it will do the trick:

hehe, cheap is a good thing indeed. i hope i can get going again with the casemod though(especially as i have a new camera), just stands behind a switch i want... socket and key(like on those real old pc's). im afraid i have to buy it tho, theres no alternatives and i just cant make it without it :worried:

Excellent bit of kit there. There's nothing more satisfying than building a tool that you'll keep using. Everytime you use it you give yourself a little nod and say "I made this" to yourself :thumb:

nice one! i like those little flexipods, they can be really handy in a pinch.

one thing i would say, is you should put some rubber feet on the ends of the legs - they look a little sharp right now. (edit: oh, you will. in that case, awesome)
