Ok you can see in my sig what im running, currently being cooled by an Artic cooling freezer 7 pro. my idle temps sit at around 38-45, load temps are 65-70 im interested in the longevity of my chip (wont get to upgrade for a few years), the general coolness of my system (gpu sits pretty high at idle too, 60-65) and..... ease on the mobo. im a little bit worried that the push pin arrangement on the freezer 7 pro could pose a risk when in transit (quite a lot of moving around currently) i know the fenrir is heavier, but would the clamp system be easier on my equipment? basically is it worth the expenditure?
if you want to bring down the temp of your system then yes go for the fenrir as its been on the cpc elite list for a while.
yep im aware the fenrir is an excellent cooler, is it going to break my mobo in transit though? and is the difference big enough to warrant an upgrade?
No. Keep the freezer 7, the temperatures are perfectly acceptable . As for the pin system, it should stay in place quite fine, though check it after the move just to make sure.
If it was me, in my opinion, I'd stick with what I've got. Temps aren't going to change all that much and added weight is always more stress on the motherboard when moving. If you want your chip to last forever, lower the overclock. Also, GPU's run at about that temp so I wouldn't worry too much. Put the money towards the upgrade.
Your temps are fine. I would suggest leaving things as they are. If you wanted to overclock heavily, then I would suggest the Titan Fenrir or something like it. Also if you are going to be moving your system in transit you might want to consider laying it on its side. Bumps or jolts shouldn't matter then so long as the system is secure and can't slide around.
if you are worried about moving might put too much strain on your motherboard, you can consider Corsair H50, zero strain when moving around.
ok good response thanks guys, looked at the h50 wu but a little out of my price range. i'll stick with what ive got till the upgrade.
if it helps at all, I had a Freezer 7 for a while when I was doing quite a lot of moving around with my computer and didn't have any problems.
