I'm going to make this circuit. It says that Q1 and Q2 are 2N3904 and 2N3906. Do I have to use these transistors, or can I use any two transistors, as long as they are one PNP and one NPN? And what about the diode? Will any diode go, or does it have to be 1N914?
Any diode should work, a 1N4148 for example would work fine. You can subsitute the transistors for any suitibly rated PNP and NPN transistors.
Any Diode will do .. (at least if you don't find some sort of very special one...) but the transistors ... i'd try to find the correct one's .. or equivalents... Good luck , let us know if it worked out
Yeah, I'll let you know. Don't know when I get the time to make the circuit, though. Thanks for the help, both of you.
I bought some new stuff: A new soldering iron (old one is broken), a multimeter and an experiment card (with copper rings around each hole). I started looking around my junk for the components needed, and guess what - I found the exact transistors needed. A couple of each, actually, so I'm making a couple of blinking circuits. The circuits work fine, but I think the LED stays on a bit short Frequency can be set with the 100K VR, but to make the LED light longer, I guess I'll need a bigger capacitor (using 3.3µF now). (On my first circuit I used wires instead of making bridges of solder.) Anyway, I'm quite pleased, as this is my first "real" electronic circuit with many components. Can only go one way from here
