Hi guys im thinking of ordering a motherboard from scan but was thinking of paying via paypal, but would i get charged for using paypal and would i still get free p+p
I don't think they do paypal do they? Ebuyer do. Edit: Just checked, oh they do. You may want to check on the Scan forum. I know ebuyer don't charge for using it, not sure how it would affect free p&p (in theory it shouldn't). The only thing I experienced with ebuyer is that once you've paid you can't amend an order, you'd have to cancel and reorder. I presume Scan would be the same just because how ppal works.
If you find out for definite let me know, it would be pretty handy if Scan just ran it like any other order re p&p.
I always use Paypal when buying from Scan- I have never noticed them charge for the privilege & I still get my free postage. I think most companies that accept paypal as a payment method will cover the paypal fees that are levied on the transaction, based on my past experiences at any rate; only some companies absorb credit card fees however but that's a different story..
Cheers guys, im gonna order now , let you know how i get on Adidan, thanks neil, appretiate that info matey take care guys
SuicideNeil is correct, paying with PayPal will still allow you to enjoy your free shipping, and there are no hidden charges.
Cheers shirty....yes just ordered my motherboard all went quicker than paying with a credit card/debit card....i think ill use paypal all the time...all done in less than a minute...well chuffed, thanks guys
Cool, good to know. Spending money from paypal never feels like spending money to me so it can be guilt free buying.
Have I taught you folks nothing? PayPal diminishes your consumer rights, where possible it is advisable to use plastic payments direct. Not through third party payment systems such as PayPal and Google Checkout! I know it can be an easier payment method but if things go wrong in the long run it'll be more difficult to stand up for yourself and your consumer rights.
I would agree with that for purchases over £100 and with sellers you've no experience with or who have no history of resolving issues. There's no extra coverage for smaller amounts though (is there ?) so it makes no difference really.
PayPal offer a pitiful 45 days to dispute a charge. On plastic with Visa, Mastercard and Debit you have 120 days via the voluntary 'Chargeback' scheme to dispute a charge. I only ever use PayPal for ebay purchases because it's way faster than the old cheque in the post of times before PayPal!
To be blunt the sun could shine out of a retailers buttocks but I would still use plastic payment direct. I see no reason to use PayPal as a substitute for personal purchases that can otherwise be made direct with the retailer. It's about making sure you have the backup in the event that something does go wrong. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best!
