A lot of repeat questions recently. Which you could tell to STFW but then the forum is for questions... Anyway, I don't presume eyeryone would read before posting, but at least it would be quicker to say "See FAQ at top" or link, rather than type out the same answer over and over. Now I've see a few forum FAQs before and the problem is that you start with a few solid posts and they you have posts ansking questions, saying 'cool', arguging over the content and thus any new posts on new topics are on Page 4+ and won't get read. If we were to do this either have a Subforum, where only mods can creat new threads, or a Locked thread sticky in the main forum. Either way the FAQ can be "worked-up" seperately untill every if happy enough with them. A couple of suggestions for items would be: What do I need to start watercooling? What order to I put the components in? Hey I've got this cool idea with a fridge....... Hose and fitting sizes Do I need a res? Should I run stuff in series/parallel? etc, etc. Preferably answers that don't presume the user is on the bleeding edge (cascade+1/2"+Iwaki) or euopean (Xice, Aquacomputer), including the middle ground! Hopefully we could assemble a lot of this with a bit of search/cut/paste!
seconded, maybe we should make this a "FAQ" thread, then a mod can put it together into one thread (like hardware & overclocking) with organised posts and no extra baggage in it edit: erk, I can't spell faq
i was thinking about this couple weeks back just making a huge post with simple Q&A's on it. Good idea
Just thought you could add a bit advising peeps on what they can /can't safely add to the water. ie can I use water wetter?, can I use motor oil instead of water or how do i make fluroscent yellow water etc etc?
and then there the classic - can i use an old laptop screen.... i would love to see a list of these kinda questions.
<sarcasm> But the glitter would look really pretty! Especially if the light catches it just right. </sarcasm> I think the FAQ needs to be as idiot proof as possible, as there are a lot of people who know nothing about water cooling, they just go and buy the hardwardware without knowing what you can / cannot do with it.
