Christ! Looks like somebody shat against all the fans.
Just for interest sake, how many cigarettes a day does he smoke? You mentioned he smokes roll-ups? I also smoke in front of my computer if the situation permits, but there is nothing of that showing on my fans. The worst I had coming out of my computer was some fat albino looking spider (cats ate it shortly after i vacated it from my case).

Wow he must be a Bill Hicks level smoker... finishes two lighters a day.

Just on the smoking on aircraft thing... the ironic thing is that since the smoking ban on planes the air quality is actually poorer as they now recycle the air rather than run aircon all the time. This means more CO2 and explains why DVT and those sexy socks suddenly became an issue.

Was one of the main reasons my wife moved from being Emirates cabin crew.

I smoke around my pcs all the time. I have one computer next to me that's been running for 5 years and yeah, in that time it has gotten a pretty dusty heat sink but no where near as bad as that. Don't think the smoke is wholly to blame for that!

I worked on a friends computer and it was like that inside, plus he had 2 cats and there was cat hair in there too. The dust got right up my nose, literally, and made me feel ill..and I'm a smoker myself and it made me ill!

I never smoke around my pc, it makes them disgusting. And I aint ever working on another pc like that without some kind of face mask cause it is just too grim.

Hello Gents! My father just called to say his PC is slow again...You may indeed see an update here. I have not cleaned it out since the pics, not sure if he has.

He did not quit either, he rolls his own now lol.

I miss you guys, I've switched to the laptop scene for portability and not much to mod on a lappy :(

On a site I used to work at they had several smoking rooms within the warehouse (pre smoking ban) which was awesome as it saved staff time walking from one end of the place to the outside.

I had to clean smoke exstracters once. One vile disgusting job and I am a smoker.....

I smokearound my computers, always have. The PC I was using for a few years up until late last year didn't get cleaned out for 3 years, and nevere got as bad as the OP!

I now spray all my PCs with comressed air every 3 months, to prolong the life of my recent high-end folding builds :)

    Yep... places you don't smoke:

    Inside
    Inside cars

I like those rules. I used to live with someone who, as a smoker so couldn't tell, thought we couldn't tell when he had been smoking out of his window. Most annoyingly when he would do it at night and the smell would actually wake me up.

I worked on a friends PC a few months ago, the PC was kept in the family "office" and A LOT of paperwork was done, and a lot of it was shredded due to the confidential nature of the work...

Anyway, the insides of the PC were caked worse than the pic in the initial thread, EVERYTHING had about half a centremeter of dust covering it including the PCI slots etc.

I took a pic much to my mates mums dismay (she felt it reflected bad on her!). Anyway, I'll see if I can find the pic and will upload later.

I'd never considered the risks of paper dust previously :p
