I am ordering the Aopen AK77-333 (already on the way) and the Alpha Pal 8045. I just read a review of my mobo on [H] and they say they tried to install the Alpha and a cap is in the way. I haven't ordered the Alpha yet (was going to order tomorrow) should I get it and make it work or just go with something else like the Taisol? Any suggestions? I am not afraid to dremmel the Alpha but not sure if it is such a good idea... Here is a picture from the review that shows what I am talking about... Quote from the review: "The four mounting holes are present on this board and the Socket A has been given the proper clearance in the no-mount zone around the Socket A. Still, that doesn't mean that everything is foolproof. We did check to see if the Alpha PAL8045, the king-daddy of heatsinks, would fit, and we're sad to say that there are caps that get in the way of properly mounting it."
hmm...i dunno wether u wanna risk usin a dremel on a 40quid heatsink... the taisol is pretty damn good, so why dont u give that a go and see what happens...
yeah, the taisol is cheap too, just planned on a bolt-on and if I just had to drim the corner of the Alpha, I would do that but not sure if that's so wise... I guess I will go for the taisol then. If it isn't good enough, I am sure I can find a good home for it in another system...
i wouldn't really want to risk damaging the heatsink as they aren't cheap. You might have to put up with a taisol 760. You could get a fan adapter and so you can have a 80mm fan on it.
theyre brilliant coolers the taisol....is what i used to run until i got the alpha....personally i think theres hardly any difference until you overclock, and then the alpha begins to shine through...
