I am building my new system and I can't remember the last time I used a floppy drive (it was probably the last time I used a boot disk). I figure on not installing one and if I hit a wall and need one, I will just quickly plug one up. Is there anyone else out there using this strategy or can tell me a reason not to do this? I dispise the little coasters
If you dont use it, why bother to install one? I dont have one in mine anymore. A Floppy is no longer big enough to fit any decent size of files on, so these days I use CD's or backup to another HDD And if you need a bootdisk in the future, make a bootable CD Chris
Yeah, if you aren't going to use it, why waste the money? You could put it toward a cc or something like that
not like they're expensive...... i've got one still..... don't use it... just have it to show off my soldering skillz with its blue led
it's not really a matter of cost, I have a half dozen floating around... the matter is really of case front realestate... I think I am going to opt out and temperarily connect one in emergencies. I know it has been over a year since I used it.. thanks
ack non-stealth non- matching drives!!!! evil!!!!!!!! pure evil!!!!!!!! (hehe pointless spam.... cmon 250....)
Floppy? Urgh! Plus I`d never get it to match the facia of my Lian Li The only time I can think of when you might need a floppy is to update the bios on your mobo - but thats about it.
I took the power connector from my floppy drive to power the precious LK204-25PC LCD .... mmmmmmmm ... still, if I buy a new PC, I'll buy a floppy drive for it, maybe the only good reason is to mod it and to show off my modding capabilities I don't have, but hey, £10 is not much for something I still use in emergencies (what to do when your PC can only boot into dos, and your cddrives are useless? good ol' a-drive comes to the resque!)
i not got one in atm and you prolly can go without one... but i gonna put it back in cause its useful for transfering small files to school's machines... plus i wanna make a nice faceplate for it
You are a braver man than I biggie - theres no way I`m going near my Lian Li with a Dremel! It would be a massacre! hehe. The only mod I`ve done is to swop the stock fans for a bunch of Panaflo`s - nice`n`safe Oh and I will catch up with you on the Bit-Tech cancer team! lol
LOL .... I do have one but barely use it so ...... I mounted it backwards facing into the case ... no drives at all show on the front now .. just my rheo
i use mine all the time. its the best for me to get documents and some pics back and forth between my home machine and my school machine. im not gonna waste a blank cd on a really small amount of data like a document.
i have one, but its super stealthed...hidden behind my lcd display, which is mounted to the bezzel of my lian-li.....so, if i ever need it (maby one a week) all i have to do is pop up the bezzel
Cool Hand (werent you called Cypher too) i'd love to see pictures of that superstelthed floppy/LCD combo. plus ToMmEh, id cut your signature down before you get a warning from a moderator, thats FAR to long.
