Peripherals Does something like this exists in DIY shops?

I was thinking of upgrading to a Logitech G27 until I realized that I need to find a way to mount the gear slightly lower than the table I'm not investing in a G27 until then. Since I'm using my pc table (Ikea jerker), mounting the gear on the same height as the wheel is awkward. Does anyone make/sell a slightly lower mount for the gear. I don't want to get a custom racing seat/mounting items since the table is quite sufficient with my current DFGT. Also I don't have the space to place a custom rig. One way of mounting the gear lower is to get a coffee table of some sort and mount it there though I would like to see a table clamp solution which provides a floating platform so that the floor is free from any table. I think this thing exists in a DIY shop. Any suggestions?

How much lower does it need to be? As a section of wood C-clamped onto the desk would do it :) If you needed to lower it you could just use some smaller spacer peices between the desk and the wood. Not pretty, but effective...

About a foot (then considering the gear height it would be slightly nearer which is fine) I guess.

I thought about a C-clamp and wood, but then a C clamp mount once, unless there is clamp with 2 C-clamps at opposite direction-one for the table, one for the wood. Don't care if its ugly as long as it works.

I think it could work. Get two C-clamps rather than clamp and wood. Then clamp the second clamp to the first clamp's body and you get a platform.

You could always just mount the gear lever to a stool.

Your biggest problem is clamps big enough, as I've not seen 12" ones...

I'm afraid the stool is not that secure for the gear mount. Other than that would work. Yes, that is another problem. Oh well, I'll stick with my DFGT until I find a way to mount it to the table

Depends on the stool in question. :D

If you want it low like a real car then any stable surface that is a small chair should work, admittedly it's easier in carpet and it's better if it's got a stable surface but i'm pretty sure you can find something lying around.

If it was up to me (and if I could afford it) I'd just find a way to have a tripod mounted gear lever. Now how cool would that be?

    Tripod's aren't that secure :p If I had the space I'd get a proper built sim-rig

Lowering it and widening the base would make it so. :thumb:

At least I hope so. Proper sim rigs are expensive as hell. I'd just make use of old furniture. Remember, what you can't make can usually be improvised...usually. :dremel:
