I don't particularly like the taste of most alcohols, but it does enhance the taste when mixed. Hence my Red Bull and Vodka.

This evening's drinking - bacardi and pepsi, with occasional brandy & pepsi, tequila, and jelly shot interludes. Hopefully I won't have been put off any of them come morning!

Well I, too had something similar after a pretty hard party night. Since then I have to puke everytime
I taste Jaegermeister and oddly I cant get really wasted anymore. Even If I want to at some point
were I'm moderately drunk my body just says no and from that point on I cant get any alcohol down.
It just starts to taste like crap. The last thing really isn't that bad actually, but still wired that
    something can change like that.

I was on various painkillers and things before christmas while i was stuck off work with a virus. Being a sometimes responsible person i cut down my drinking during this period to a handful of glasses of wine with meals (thats a handful over six weeks, not a handful per meal) and one solitary beer.

Being off said painkillers and having people to see for christmas and new eyar i was looking forward to enjoying a few drinks ehre and there and the odd night out. Unfortunately i can't stomach beer anymore. it doesnt do anything bad, but everything i've tried (admittedly mostly lighter stuff and lagers) tastes like stale water. there's no taste to any of the following: Kronenberg, Carlsberg, Carling, Tennants, san miguel, sol, corona (previosuly my beer of choice), caledonian 80, vodka, gin or whisky (whisky has some kind of taste, but ti's not like whisky) regardless of mixer (lemonade, soda water, tonic water etc). Combined with all soft drinks tasting bland but fuzzy (it taste slike im jsut dirnking foam from the top all the time). The only thing I've enjoyed drinking is kopparberg, which im not overly keen on as it's too sweet a lot of the time.

Fruit juice and squash taste normal, as does tea (i don't dirnk coffee).

I'm hoping it's just one of those things and it'll come back to me soon, because sitting down with a nice pint among friends, or having a cold beer when i get in from work is one of the few ways i have to relax after work.

hmm alcohol is bad for you so that = your brain makes your taste buds hate the taste, pity I liked that theory right up until some one i was speaking to said in that case how come your brain lets us eat the crap Macdonald's calls food ?

Hehe, yup, what about Cake etc. ;)

Still the taste is the same, opened a beer, took a sip, was nearly sick, although a cold Cider isn't as bad as it was a few weeks back, but I still couldn't drink it all, not even half.

I just spent a really sick stint, and I can't have Mountain Dew any more. Or coffee. Or caffeine but in small doses, along with any soda. Which makes me miserable. Still have trouble just eating, which means all my diet has changed.

Point here is is watch how much acetaminophen (paracetamol) you're taking. I spent a night throwing up blood and getting my body hosed out with IVs to find I can hardly stomach anything any more.

I was just remembering that once I got sick and couldn't keep much solid food down. However, popcorn was OK - but after two days of nothing but popcorn my stomach executed a "reverse gears" maneuver - it was a long time before I could eat popcorn again. I think the consensus is that if your body associates something with being violently ill it keeps reminding you of that. If that item is what caused the "illness" then I'd say that's a good thing.
It looks like he's not taking advantage of that though. -shrug-

I seem to recall that you have some nasty terminal illness (or am I mixing you up with someone else?). I'll add relief from that to my prayers tonight.

I do have what can be considered as a terminal illness, but it's more a genetic condition-Marfan's Syndrome, which is a causative agent as to why I was so ill. I had an impacted molar, which developed a severe infection, and to combat the pain I was drinking Extra-Strength Tylenol liquid like it was water. Two bottles and some later, I start spitting up blood. Didn't hurt I was chasing it with coffee, or maybe it did...

Anyway, after two months of pain and nausea I can finally start eating again, but after trying to drink Mountain Dew while I was sick I have no taste for it any more-it's somehow sour in my mouth now...
