Decided last night to see how fast my akasa icycle fan was spinning by sticking my finger in. Didn't feel any pain but when I removed my finger it was making a very loud grinding noise. I turned the machine off to investigate and it turns out I took out one of the blades! So now I have had to replace the fan with a very noise 7000rpm Globalwin fan that sounds like a jet engine :sigh:

Let me get this right......................................You tested the speed by inserting your finger! Hmm, Novel approach.....................LOL ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Bummer about the fan though, still, could have been worse. Just don't try it with anything bigger or faster OK! ;)

oh come on almost everybody sticks their finger in a fan once, and then never do it again. Did the same thing with my old heatsink fan, but I never replaced the fan, kinda got used to the grinding

Did a similar thing to try and stop the grinding on my heatsink fan, ended up breaking the blade off. Took the fan entirely apart, superglued the blade back on, and put the fan back together. The fan was quieter than it had been for months!! Then a couple of days ago i accidentally put my finger in it again, and broke the blade off again. Damn cheap plastics!! LoL. I actually cut the tip of my finger that time though! Finally went and got a new fan..:D

I had the same thing happen to myself about a week ago. I was installing a Geforce 2 MX card that I got into my lil bro's PC. I was havin problems with it freezin and lockin up, so I thought the card might be runnin hot. Well I stuck my hand on the back of the card and the middle knuckle on my pinkie finger happened to get in the way of the 3700RPM YS Tech fan at the rear of the machine. Those have a really nice way of shaving off the top few layers of skin if your not careful. :eeek:

well i only have one fan within reach, and that is covered, there are the 2 front intakes (lan-Li) that arent covered, but you got the 3 support bars on that side.

But the guard on the rear fan makes an awful buzz, so might get rid of it

i accidently stuck my finger in my CPU fan while i was adjusting my screwdriver, wich i had put in as a counterweight, because the darn grill aint big enough for the fan. It cut a piece of my finger right off :eeek: :(

lol i've done a 60mm evercool (on site, bleeding all over the floor) an 80mm mechatronics at home, again bleeding everywhere, a 120mm YS-Tech that took out half the side of my finger, that was at work and a few others less severe. oddly, i've never broken a fan :eyebrow: i seem to see a fan and think "mmmmmmm must stick my finger in it..." then outch! :(

I recently got an Antec 80mm tornado for my PAL8045 and was testing how loud it was. I picked it up and set it down and I felt it hit my finger but didnt think much of it. Next thing i knew, I had to scrub blood out of the carpet! :eeek:

Oh well....that'll teach me wont it:idea:

i had a dream last night that i had to glue on someone elses fingertip so i could go do something. i never knew where mine was to begin with or why i lost it (so what if i have vague dreams).

im planning to build a pc for mommy soon, maybe the dream was a warning that i should just let her buy a prefab. at any rate, i'll stay out of mine for a few days. safety first, you know?

What the heck?!? You guys do this on accident. I have a Delta Screamer on my desk for my personal cooling (no AC =\) so when I get bored I crank up the old RPMs and just shove my finger in there... sure it hurt... for a while, but now I am pretty much numb ot it. *yes, i have issues, thank you for noticing =)*
