If you go on several technology sites, you should have seen this. However, a lot of the sites had this taken down mysteriously *insert conspiracy theory here*. It started coming out on the 3rd November 2010. ASUS has recently held a small conference in london where a small group of people got the chance to see 4 new motherboards ASUS has designed for the new P67 sandybridge chipset. Their names are as follows: The RoG variant: The Maximus IV Extreme It has 4 16x PCI-E 2.0 slots for Quad CrossfireX/Sli (of course this is if you are a) willing to spend a ton of money for the Graphics Cards and b) if they are all single slot. As well as that, you get 4 USB 3.0 and 4 SATA 6/Gbps and some RoG stuff as standard. The TuF varient: The Sabertooth P67 The most interesting part of this cheesecake is the Plastic shroud covering most of the motherboard. They call it the 'Tactical Vest' which they claimed that it helps to direct more airflow towards components and away from others. It is designed for use with a Fan that forces air down onto the CPU. Does anyone else think this is just a giant heatsink? Apart from that, you get 2 16x PCI-E 2.0 slots for your Dual CrossfireX/Sli needs and the Ceramic Heatsinks and 9 Temperature sensors on the board. Finally, we have the 'mainstream' ones, the P8P67 Deluxe and P8P67. I couldn't find a picture of the P8P67. For now you'll just have to make do with the Deluxe. Included are two SATA 6 Gb/s and six SATA 3 Gb/s ports, two USB 3.0 ports given out as front-panel header, and an enclosure that occupies one exposed 3.5" drive bay, providing front-panel access to the USB 3.0 ports, gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, and 8+2 channel HD audio. There have also been reports that the P8P67 Deluxe has phased out the good ol BIOS in return for UEFI http://www.techspot.com/news/40984-asus-motherboard-with-uefi-demoed-on-video.html. I quite like the look of the interface though Pricing is expected to be $300 for the RoG cheesecake, $220 for the TuF cheesecake and around $150 for the deluxe and the normal P8P67. Pictures were found on http://www.pckoloji.com/haberler/22...bertooth-p67-ve-p8p67-deluxe.html?language=en. Press release (i think) and some information was found on http://www.techpowerup.com/133841/ASUS-Shows-off-Top-Tier-LGA1155-Motherboard-Lineup.html , the information was originally from softpedia but it got taken down . edit: Found a link about the P8P67 Pro, a Mini ITX board and some more info on the above here http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1466/1/. Is it any good? How easy is it to use and is it easier to overclock on it? (supposing you have a special k CPU)
Don't they miss the target audience with the Sabertooth board? How many high-end aircoolers use downward blowing fans? And if you decide to watercool your computer you are gonna be majorly screwed because of lack of airflow to the motherboards components. Final thing.. Tactical vest? C'mon .. I'd call a condom that -.-'
anyway, on topic if this UEFI thing takes off soon (it will have to eventually, the BIOS was never designed with long term in mind), then it's hello new interface and mouse control
The Sabretooth version looks awesome (I actually quite like the x58 one too), but sounds pricey considering the X58 version is only around £10 or less more expensive then the PX58D-E.
