Windows download windows me?

    ok i have been given a workmates packard bell to fix, it runs win me, she has lost disks and i need to reinstall WIN ME i have the serial number is it illegal to download a copy even tho there is a legal serial number?

    downloading it from anywhere other than ms is illegal im afraid

    if you "found" the cd though and when you enter the registration details you will most likely have to call them to activate. all you need to do is explain that its a re-install

    I believe you have your Windows versions mixed up my friend - there is no activation process for Windows ME. Atleast not in the half dozen or so times I have re-installed that shatty OS.

    Only XP and 2003 require activation, any OS before those doesn't.

    Good luck finding a Windows ME CD.

    Tbh move her onto something like Win2k or WinXP, much better as ME sucked like a 10$ whore... :rolleyes:
