Hi guys.. i am back again with my "new" project made by wood ( a drawer basically ) my dad brought a broken desk at home a month ago.. my other project stopped because i had some PAINTING problems. So .. here is my new project. It's half - started because my digital had some technical problems when i was modding the drawer. BEFORE PICTURE NEXT PART Front holes cut , FDD-HDD rack installed. Cut room for CD-ROm and Super Flower Fan Controller ( Above the front fan holes ) . 3 holes cut on the back of the case. PSU Hole cut on the side of the case ( had some problems to mount it behind because the ATX wire wasn't long enough to clip on the MOBo. On the left side of the case a window has been cut . The case was painted with 2 coats of Primer ... That's for now.. I 've got some more pictures taken . I will post them in a while
ok so i guess ill be the first to post wellcome to the forums, so how about some specs of the system and what u plan to make the draw look like when its done but i must say it looks promising
Specs ------ P4 2.4gh @ 3.2 Asus MOBO P4GE-V GeForce FX 5200 Ultra 128mb WD 120 gb Genius 5.1 Surround Sound Card Samsung 52X32X52 CD-RW Nec FDD SuperFlower 4 Fan Controller And as soon as i have the money.. i will buy a nice watercooling kit ( probably in summer ) And here is a NOT finished sketch up of the case .. i am a newbie user of sketchup so .. i 've gotta learn some more technics in order to finish it.
dude, ever heard of sandpaper? really, though, you need to sand all those cuts you made. Other than that it looks good.
Sanding? Dude .. its very VERY difficult to sand this wood . it's hard . I will try to sand it using my 24k rpm Grinder. Hope it works .. crosses his fingers
UPDATE - PAINTING - SANDING - FRONT PANEL - 60% Finished Ok , the pictures following are for the preparation of the front aluminium sheet that will cover the CENTER Part of the front panel . THE VIEWABLE aluminium surface is COVERED with tape. THE front panel assemplied and primered ( 2 coats ) Cut mesh for 2 "PANAFLO" fans Feet for the case More updates soon .
Ok, I'm going to be a dick and say that you REALLY REALLY REALLY need to file/sand ALL of those cuts. Other than that, looks pretty slick!
If you want comment, ill give u some. tbh I think it looks ****, its ugly, the holes are more like squares, fix those things dude !
Sorry, another dick here.. If you squint, or ignore the jagged edges, it looks really nice. I like the aluminium center, the layout and general look of it.. but the cuts is a different story. They're actually quite horrible, and you should really really do something about them.
A tip, if you have a drill, try getting a hole-saw for making the round cuts. They come out perfect everytime, and need just a little sanding. To the person who said it looks like shlt: That's not cool dude, it just needs the cuts cleaned up.
Yea but there is quite a big problem .. those squares are cut for FDD and CD-Rom . If i sand them the square will become bigger and the cd-rom will look ugly . Any ideas for making a "frame" or something?
Simple solution: Just get a piece of 3mm plywood or MDF and cut it so that it is 2 or 3 cm bigger on all sides than the cuts you made already. Then cut Proper sized drive bay openings and stick it to the front of the case. That way you get a nice 3D effect of a double layer. As for the fan holes: get a piece of PVC tubing (drain pipe) and cut a bit the same thickness as the case (looks to be 1" thick). Place it in the fan holes and use filler to fill any gaps ET VOILA - perfect circles Flymo
Look at my case, project divergence and you can see what a hole saw can do. Plexi glass is about the same as wood to cut except wood does not melt and plexi does...
UPDATE - 90 % Finished Here i am . Today i went to many shops to find this Hole Saw but no1 had one so i just used my grinder. Thank god when i install the fans with the grills everything looks perfect. Back fans are not installed yet. I will make a 9 on/off fan controller as soon as my school exams finish 1 picture 1000 words...
Sorry man, but in my really honest opinion it sounds too ghetto!!!! Rough cuts, different screws on the front..... Well, surely it's miles away from my thinking of a PC case, anyway it's your case, so you must like it!!
I actually think its got potential. All it needs is a little cleaning up. A few suggestions ? If you replaced those countersunk screws on the aluminium strips with the hex headed ones you have, it'd give it a bit more of a uniform look. [edit sorry started a thought and forgot to finish it ] Try and polish up that aluminium a bit. Maybe go over it with some wet/dry sand paper (only rub one way) and it might give it a shine and an almost brushed look. I reckon that'd look sweet. Do you have access to a plane or rasp file ? I think the edges of the box might look good if they were rounded a bit.. The fan holes dont look so bad once the grills are on. You could clean them up a bit if you wanted but they dont look terrible. I think the right front side of the case kinda sticks out because there is nothing interesting to look at there. Have you considered maybe installed another window or lighting feature there ? As I said, its got potential
Yep. The holes are too rough I think, you should do mask to them, aluminium? And polish the aluminium. Do perfect circles and change frontpanel screws. It will be good I think if you do something for those mistakes or something.
Help.. I did the sanding on the aluminium it looks great but it doesnt have a great mirror effect now.. Can anyone give me suggestions/ideas to add mods on my case? I run out of ideas .. any ideas are accepted
