Man, I'm asking a lot of questions lately.

Maybe someone should merge it all into one thread called 'Terry asks slightly unusual questions'..

Anyway. There's officially only one parking space at my new abode, which is all fine and dandy, but I'm getting sick of moving cars around when I want to get the RS.

    The only thing (Okay, there's a small bush too, but it's mostly dead and I reckon I can beat it in a fight) stopping me parking on the front "garden" (gravel patch) is this;

I've had a shufty in it, and it appears to be some sort of inspection point for the drainage of our house.

It doesn't move much, but I'm wondering if there's likely to be problems with me driving a car over it and parking on it. My lack of experience in these things is making me ponder.

Should I get a couple of those low plastic car ramps for up and down, and stake them into the ground, call the job done and park merrily, or should I continue swapping cars every Friday night?

Do you actually have to drive (I.e. run the tyres of the car) over it to park on your gravel/front garden? If not no worries! Park where you like :)

Otherwise, assuming it is what I think it is, then the pipe/drum in the ground is plastic, and as such if a car's weight is frequently run over it, it could crack and leak, which would probably be your responsibility to fix/replace if you want your drains to work! (n.b. if its a shared drain, which by its size I doubt, then the water company are responsible, but if you've obviously caused it damage by driving over it then I would suspect you'd end up paying...)

Unfortunately I would have to go over it, yeah.

It's a plastic holder for the concrete bit, but under that it's concrete pipe again, but yeah. I'd be on the hook for damages.

Probably safest to keep swapping cars.

Can you not replace it with a steel one? The local builders yard should be able to sort ye out with one.

Reverse on? The rear wheels carry not far off half the weight of the fronts in a fwd car. You could also watch the first couple of times to see if it moves... plastic is pretty strong and chances are these plastic covers actually had to be tested to carry a car before they were actually appoved for use.

This, try and find out who sells these, I have one that is designed to be driven over. It is sunk flush with the ground though, your's seems to be protruding.

I.. Hadn't thought about that, that might work out to be a decent idea. I guess I need to get the measuring tape out!

I thought they might be, but never having actually parked on/over one before, I thought I best see what the consensus was.

Yeah, it's the protrusion that concerns me. I'm half tempted to run some heavy plastic sheet, clear the gravel out, and concrete around it. Obviously putting the gravel back.

As the architects of Calais and Gateshead say, "there's no problem that can't be solved with concrete."

Until you need to get it off something.

Unless there's some wizardry involving adding concrete to remove concrete that I'm missing out on!

If you add enough concrete, nobody will ever know the problem was there.

I learned that from the mafia.

Couldn't see anything in the picture but does it have any markings on it/inside, anything other than A15 would be OK to drive over.
