Good! I'm quite happy with them making Sonic games on all 3 consoles rather than 1 :D. The Xbox essentially was the Dreamcast 2 anyway- Microsoft software, pretty similar controllers etc.

Still.. I did enjoy the Dreamcast. It was the only platform, at the time, that did a great translation of Capcom 2d fighters.

Dreamcast was the only console I never owned. I was a kid back then with limited money and by the time I could afford it, it was dead and not worth buying. Shame, I enjoyed sega consoles.

for some reviewers it is still one of the best consoles ever made in terms of innovation, only surpassed by current gen consoles...

i would love to see a dreamcast 2..... wait....

"and that the patent was filed only to protect the copyright of a possible future console. " this may mean a light at the end of the tunnel.... they patented it because at sometime in the future there may be a sega dreamcast 2.....

Truth be told the Dreamcast had some fantastic games, Soul Calibur still ranks as one of the greatest fighting games ever made, it's just a shame the number of games was so thin on the ground. The console also had native anti-aliasing, something even the PS3 struggles with now. It was a real shame it died.

That said, I'm not sure about a sequal. Do we need another console? Erm.... no. For hard core gaming, the 360 and the PS3 have it wrapped up pretty tight, what'd be the point of another console? And the Wii is, well, the Wii, and in it's own market it's king. Even for more straight forward, but retro gaming, the PS2 and XBox are still viable options, there simply isn't a market for a new Dreamcast.

Unless they did something truly amazing, like a multi-gaming platform that plays PS, Xbox, Wii and PC games all at once, using only your MIND!!!

Dreamcast had amazing games and games which looked better than alot of the more powerful PS2 games, reason it failed was the complete lack of 3rd party publishers but even with all the crappy titles that came out there are some real gems.

Would of loved to of seen a Dreamcast 2 but perhaps the market is a little saturated for them and they wouldnt necssarily have a widespread following.

I still maintain that Sega should re-release it but as a download-only box. The hardware must be dirt cheap to make now, whack in an 80GB drive and sell all the games, from all regions over the net. Make it bit-torrent if necessary.

Everyone goes nuts for the small, cheap box that has tons of retro Sega titles + they make a mint of peripherals.

It'd be nice if they make a new Sonic game as good as Sonic Adventure. I really enjoyed that.. the rest were pants. A new Dreamcast would've been nice... might have given Shenmue III a possibility :sigh:

that is a cool idea, especially if you can put a bigger hard drive in it.

Yea well that's the thing - ship it with an 80 and let people upgrade it. Plus a dreamcast game is what, size of a CD? So you could fit ~70 odd games on an 80-disk

My Dreamcast is hooked up to my projector along with my 360. Its a shame lik-sang closed as they had a lot of good stuff for the DC. Play-asia are pretty good as well now.

But the games on it were excellent, I still think Chu-Chu Rocket is one of the best 4 player games about, just amazing.

It's ok, they will one day. I'm onto them... release games for the other guys, completely swamp their marketplaces and get the licenses to all the top titles, then in a few years release a new console and make everything exclusive to the hardware.

    SEGA 1 everyone else 0.

At least, that's what happens in my rose-tinted dreams...

    edit:
"We're very happy being a platform agnostic company and have moved up the ranks the past three years from #11, to #9, and now stand at #6 in terms of our market share by units among third-party publishers. We like our current strategy and have no plans to change in the middle of this outstanding growth."
.. just confirms my theory I feel :D

I want the Dreamcast 2 to have controllers with memory cards in them like the old DC.Only the cards will have touch sensitive OLED screens that read fingerprints to allow loading and saving games :D

I loved my dreamcast. It was a great console with some great games. However, I feel that Sega have died completely after they left the hardware business. The only memorable game I can think of is Super Monkey Ball.

When are Sega going to release Chu Chu Rocket on XBOX Live Arcade? Infact the Wii would be perfect for that game, bar the poor online experience you are likely to encounter with it.

apparently sega is pretty well ranked among the most productive game developping studios. However, beside Sonic games, I can't really think of anything Sega made recently.. but then again I don't follow the console market that much
