Well i'be [osted quite abit lately round here, and done afew minor mods, but i've always resorted to useing my m8s tools. Now i've decided it time for me to get my own damn dremel. So i wanna know some good cheap dremels, prices and where to get um. Also what kinda blade am i gunna need to cut through heatsinks...i been using my trusty hack-saw so far, but it takes too long.
If you're going to do alot of cutting, I think it would be worth getting a real Dremel instead of a knock-off. They're solidly built machines and worth every penny. They're also easy to take apart and clean out when they begin to get clogged with metal dust and other crap. It took mine a year and about 5 large windows till it needed a cleaning. If I had a can of compressed air to clean it out with after every time I used it, I may have never needed to clean it to begin with. But if you're doing a simple jobbie and don't plan to ever use it again, get a cheapo and save some cash.
if i could afford one, or use it more i would have bought a proper dremel, but as it is a knockoff is fine for me, the dremel bits are well worth using though instead of b&q/homebase equivalents.
I dunno...I saved until I could get a REAL Dremel and I am glad I did. They do build them like a tank, I have beat the piss out of it and it's still going strong. Really, they aren't that expensive... I say: go for the real one!
Argos do a cheapo 'dremel' type tool. £30 for the tool which has comparbale performance to a dremel multi pro and includes some accessories, a flex shaft and a stand for holding tool when working w/ flex shaft.
I got a dremel clone from Woolies at christmas. £15, with a few attachments and carry case Does the job, dont use it that much so not worth splashing out on the real deal.
Well im plannign to cut afew heatsinks and some plexi drive covers. Thats about it as of right now, im just sick of using the hacksaw, so slow. So a cheapy be good enough to cut the base of an aluminium heatsink? oh and i looked at maplins and some toher sites and couldnt find a drmele, unles sits listed under summit else...so any links would be great!
Challenge Xtreme 130 Watt Rotary Tool Kit. Now at a bargain £23.99 130 watt, variable speed, and obviously accepts all major dremel bits - which i wuld advise using, fwiw
hey i have that exact same dremel rip off that was linked to and its called something else in aus its a POWERMAX MASTERTOOL HIGH SPEED ROTARY TOOL lmao anyway its great its cutting through 5mm metal for me and also i've used it for about 2-3 hours a day for about 2 weeks and its still going strong
Well, thanks for that, i saw this a few mnths back but was a bit sceptical considering price - was gonna get it anyway out of curiousity but you just made my mind up for me 100%
Yeah thanks fillip for posting that link, i'm ordering mine in a few weeks. (cash flow is at its minimum right now!)
They're damn good value IMO - even they dont last like a proper dremel, if they do the job, it's worth it for the price alone. I cant get mine for a few weeks either - cash flow probs also. Save one for me though!
