    does anyone know if the versatips flame is hot enugh to to soilderr 8 guage battery cables to lugs?

    It should be. However if the tips get too hot they bend easily with relatively slight pressure.

    cool, was going to get a torch for the job but i would have little re use for that wheres the versatip soldering iron i would a have use for fairly often
