i need a drill press for a mod that iam making, a home made water block. i just need to drill some holes in it, and i have no access to one. I was browsing the dremel webpage and i came across the plunge routing accesorry for the dremel, i was wondering if i could get that to work in the same way, and would it be a good investment?
I own that attachment. It will not work as a drill press. The plunge mechanism is super stiff and inaccurate (doesn't hit exactly where you want). All manageable as a router, no go for a drill press. Have you looked for drill mounts that work as a drill press with your hand drill? Also for $100US dollars you can pick-up a decent benchtop model, or cheaper at Harbor Frieght.
I wouldn't go too cheap on a drill press for making a copper waterblock. Working with copper puts a lot of stress on the tool, especially if you plan on drilling holes big enough to be water passages.
well i got a new idea that wont need the drill press after all!! yay, i will post the finished block in like a month when iam actualy finished with it lol.
