A fail is 15 minors or 1 major. 13 minors is acceptable, just don't go bragging about it at the pub ;)

i agree that missing the blindspot was worthy of the fail if a car came around at a pase then he would have smashed into the side of me

The second time i believe was a little harsh no clutch in so i was'nt coasting down the hill and it was literally for a few seconds till i released then i gently applyed the break to make sure i was'nt going to have somebody up my ass

I was considering saying "There is people behind me i feel under pressure" but the examiner is such a jerk he would have probebly just ignored me (im not kidding...)

On a test drive slightly under the speed limit. The limit is a law not a target. You won't get a minor for driving 5mph under.

If it's a 30mph road and there's no reason not to be going at 30, i.e. parked cars, tight turns, etc, then they want you bang on 30. Otherwise you get minors for holding up traffic. On higher speed limits it is best to be 5 under for your test, but on a 30 you should be going as close to 30 as possible.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. Driving tests can be a massive PITA - it does seem like the smallest of things (which people with licences do every single day) can get you failed. Heck, on my 3rd test (when I finally passed!) I noticed a few people [with full licences] doing various things which would get me instantly failed. Is pretty annoying.

But is just one of those things I guess. Just keep trying and hopefully 3rd time lucky.

Pretty sure I got three in the same section, but this was quite a few years ago, so things could have changed.

Veles is right, they'd probably give you a minor for going 25 in a 30 for no reason other than you're affraid to actually go the 30. They expect you to be good enough at controlling your speed to stick to 28-30mph. The same is true for a stretch of road that's got a 60mph speed limit. I know someone who failed for only hitting 53mph or so, they want you to show that you're confident at the speed limits that are deemed safe (within common sense).

Pass it inbetweeners style :D That said, I did mine on "speak like a pirate day"....and he had a bandana, dodgy waist coat, etc, not sure if it was deliberate or not :worried:

I got a load of minors, missing blind spots, "assuming the route", but at the end of the day a pass is a pass! It's very much like GCSE science...you have to know the right answer for the question, NOT use lateral thinking.

I got 1 point off my test because i didnt 'hug the curb' long enough when taking the corner. Didn't make sense, but oh well. Did everything else fine. :)

Failed my first time for "aggressive driving". What a joke! I was in a nice (fast) car and came to a stop sign. Had to cross the street and pull into the test center. The road was busy but I made it across with plenty of time to spare and without speeding. However the old man was "scared" so I failed.

    What a day.

Exactly, you don't need to hit 30mph to pass, there's no reason why you shouldn't just drive around at 25-30 the whole test

    FAIL!

    congrats.

just want to say, although i passed first time, i had to do similar pull away on a steep hill behind a car maneuver. and i got a minor there.
i stopped too close to the mini-van infront, so pulling away was really hard, i let the car slip back a tiny bit while turning steering wheel, got the minor because of the clutch control. do keep in mind this was 7 years ago, with a car without power steering.

your first time is arguable, clearly you were aware that there was no car in your vicinity. your 2nd time's reason is pretty clear, during a test, you can NEVER allow your speed to drift. going to 34mph while going down bridge just means you didn't have speed under control, perhaps should have gone to 3rd gear to make the engine control your speed instead of cruising at 4th gear. (at least that's the case with my car)

When I passed mine all you had to do was drive around the block twice do a emergency stop a hill start answer about 10 questions from the highway code and that was it.

And my uncle hes dead now was driving a black cab when london still had cobblestone roads and never had to take a test, When they introduced Licenses they just gave him one
