Biggest problem by far of all these DAS/NAS boxes is proprietary software. If something goes wrong big time, it's gone. That's why I consider in todays day and age (any) RAID setup to store vast amount of data completely bonkers.Simple 6TB RAID 1 takes about 12-15 hours to rebuild. Nuts! Any drive pool setup simply Trounces (with capital T) RAID for redundancy. Caching pool is trivial in the same way as with above Drobo 5D(T). And price. LOL 900$/Euro for an empty box. About 30% of that price is Thunderbolt license. 3000$ for 30TB version... Give me a break, HA, ha, ha!

Instead wasting money on this, if you want redundancy above all else get StableBit Drive Pool or Drive Bender or any other similar software, JBOD enclosure and forget about pseudo-RAID boxes.
