Wanted to give some high speed photography a try and this was one of the best shots I got. What do ya think?

That's really cool, how high speed are we talking here?

I wish I could remember correctly. The exif data says 1/1000 but I was using the chdk firmware to override some settings on my canon and so that may be wrong. I know I was trying a lot of different settings. If I find out how fast it actually was I will post back.

The hard light in the reflections from the flash bugs me a bit (especially with the CA on the flare), but on the whole I like it.

Ya I know what you mean. Since I didn't have a external flash source I had to go with the flash on the camera. Next time I plan on using a separate flash and a diffuser to get a softer light.

Haha, that's awesome. How exactly do you achieve this effect? And is it possible with a Canon S3IS?

I've only played a little with manual settings.
