i currently run xp and 98 off of different hdds and when i want to boot to 98 i have to go into the bios and change the order of boot devices from floppy to floppy ide 0 to ide 1 cd drive to cd drive would it be possible to make a floppy disk that makes my pc boot to ide 1 as i only use it to get pics of off my digi cam as it doesn't work with xp if it is possible how could i do it?
why dont you use the built in boot manager with xp or something like that? then it gives you the option to choose
What I would do is copy the autoexec.bat, config.sys, msdos.sys, io.sys, command.com and any others I forgot from your windows 98 root to the floppy. That should then trigger the win98 startup from the floppy even if IDE0 is enabled. Or you could try bootmagic, part of partition magic.
or you could use a grub or lilo boot loader. or you could be a man, erase your hd, and start over fresh with linux.
wow a thread from two months after i registered lol. Bloody hell Lazy, i feel really bad if you've been waiting for us miserable buggers to answer your question lol.
or I could buy a new digital camera (which supports xp) so i can remove win 98, avoid linux and stick with a non time consuming, easy to use, compatible with games copy of xp oh wait I did...
I love it when someone asks a question that there's always some idiot that says change to linux its brilliant and had my babies etc etc.
